By Jane Rogers There is no agenda or formal structure for Foyers other than spending time together for fun and relaxed conversation. Foyers actually began, however, as a ministry of reconciliation following the destruction and rebuilding of Coventry Cathedral in England during WWII. The Coventry Cathedral staff started meeting together in small groups for lively discussion and debate regarding appropriate topics at that time.
Foyer gatherings are an effective way for longtime members and newcomers to become acquainted or get to know each other better. Groups of 8-9 adults meet for about 2-2½ hours in members' homes once a month for fellowship and sharing a simple meal. (Gourmet meals and elegant settings are discouraged!) The time to meet is determined by each group. The fall rotation begins in September and ends in January at which time the groups are re-formed for the spring (February-May).
Sign-up forms and the Foyers box will be in the lobby beginning Sunday, Aug. 16. Sign-up deadline is Sunday, Aug. 30--we'll have a table that day at Crowing for Christ Church. You may also sign up by e-mail (jrogers106@nc.rr.com) or call Jane Rogers (848-7473). So mark your calendar to join us for the fun!
